Author/illustrator celebrates 200th Anniversary of Lighthouse with new edition of A Peninsular Mystery

Laurie Jones is the author/illustrator of "A Peninsular Mystery", a fictional account of events leading up to the mysterious disappearance of the first lighthouse keeper of the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, JP Rademuller. Using a diarist's approach she leads the reader on a merry path that culminates in the discovery that the walls of the lighthouse are not all that may have been whitewashed. In fact, Jones offers up 4 completely novel new ways to interpret events leading to Rademuller's disappearance and beyond- each more quirky and possible than the next. Wonderfully illustrated with images from a "found" sketchbook Jones draws us into the world of York circa 1812. The Lighthouse was built in 1808, making it 200 years old this year. Her original story will delight and tantalize with the possibilities of what might have really happened on that fateful January night almost 200 years ago.The second edition of A Peninusular Mystery will be available Summer 2008.

Laurie is the Executive Director at The Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre, a public gallery located in a heritage landmark railway station in the village of Haliburton, Ontario.
